February
News at the Market: We are holding our annual meeting this month, and will have Don Wamble here from the Farmers Market Authority in Montgomery. We are hoping he will have some good news about getting our canned goods back on the tables. If he doesn't have any news, we do know that congress will convene in February and one of the bills will be on the canned goods sold at Farmers Market. Will let you know next month how that turns out.
Out in the Field: Two of our big sellers at the market have spent the winter fencing a lot of their land, to stop the deer from getting into their crops. What a job. We have also planted our onions and some English Peas, for next spring. This month we will be planting potatoes, all the root crops, mustard, lettuce, spinach, cabbage and broccoli. Now is the time to start pruning your fruit trees, liming and fertilizing them. We will be planting some new apple, and plum trees that are on order. We have just about all the seed that we will need for this year on order and they should be coming in any day. If you haven't started your herb seed yet, now is the time for that. That is about all the news at the market. See you next month.
